    Before you buy

    Is it actually non-greasy, or just marketed that way?

    Light liquid paraffin is the difference. It thins the formula so it spreads and absorbs, instead of sitting as a film the way heavier paraffin-only creams do. Rub a small amount into the back of your hand and tilt it toward a light — there should be no shine after about a minute.

    How much should I use, and when?

    More than feels necessary, and sooner than feels necessary. Apply within about three minutes of a shower, while the skin still holds water from it. The cream's job is to keep that water in, not to add more. For hands, reapply after every wash.

    Can I use it on my face?

    Yes. It is fragrance-light, paraben-free and dermatologist tested. Use a thinner layer than you would on heels or elbows — a pea-sized amount covers the whole face.

    How long does a 500g tub last?

    Around two months for one person using it daily on hands, heels and elbows. Less if you apply head to toe after every shower, which plenty of buyers do through winter.

    Is it suitable for children?

    Parasoft is a paraben-free emollient suitable for all ages. As with any new product, patch-test on a small area first. For infants, check with your paediatrician.

    Why the 500g pack rather than a tube?

    Emollients only work if you use enough of them, and a 50g tube quietly discourages that. The tub is ten tubes' worth at a fraction of the price per gram — the difference between using it properly and rationing it.
