My first time trying meadowfoam seed oil - I use it around my eyes and I like its soothing, moisturizing properties. My eyelids were itching and flaking, but after a couple of weeks of use those problems have resolved. There is a very faint scent - quite pleasant - which disappears as the oil is absorbed. Good stuff!
This is the prefect oil.The name by itself evokes images of running through a grassy, dew-covered field of meadowfoam flowers. That alone is worth buying this stuff! In addition, it's great for your skin. After researching the ingredients found in some of the most expensive under eye creams on the market, and discovering that meadowfoam seed oil was often at the top of the list, I purchased a bottle to add to my DIY face and eye cream concoctions. And to be honest, I'm not opposed to just slathering this stuff on my face all by itself. It's especially great during the cold, dry winter months. And no, it doesn't cause oily skin or breakouts. I certainly love what it does in terms of hydrating my skin so I will definitely continue using it.
I really prefer Meadowfoam Seed oil over Jojoba oil. It makes your skin so soft without feeling oily. When I mix it Rose Hip Oil, I forget to put my night cream on-it is that smooth.
I've been reading a lot about using oils as moisturizers, makeup removers, etc. I am prone to acne and have combination skin, so I am--very--apprehensive to try new facial products. I was combating closed comedones and realized it was from my moisturizer that contains cetyl alcohol (CeraVe Moisturizing Cream for Normal to Dry Skin) and figured I'd try out a noncomedogenic oil as a moisturizer. I haven't had any negative experiences related to the Meadowfoam Seed Oil and didn't need to order a second bottle for almost a year! It doesn't take a lot of oil to moisturize or remove makeup effectively. One recommendation is that you leave enough time for the oil to absorb properly before using makeup. I have lately been using a mattefying primer over it when I'm in a rush to help save time. It also makes a great carrier oil if you'd like to add any other oils to fit your skin needs. And, of course, use sunscreen!
Beautiful oil that is greatly underutilized in products. Love being able to buy it separately and adding into my skin and hair care as needed. Wonderfully emollient without being too sticky, heavy, or greasy.
